She looked, and there was the king standing by the pillar  according to the custom. The commanders and the trumpeters were by the king, and all the people of the land were rejoicing and blowing trumpets.  Athaliah tore her clothes and screamed ‘Treason! Treason! ’


Then  Jehoiada made a covenant between the Lord, the king, and the people that they would be the Lord’s people  and another covenant between the king and the people.  ,


All Judah rejoiced over the oath, for they had sworn it wholeheartedly. They had sought him with all sincerity, and he was found by them.  So the Lord gave them rest on every side.


As she looked, there was the king standing by his pillar  at the entrance. The commanders and the trumpeters were by the king, and all the people of the land were rejoicing and blowing trumpets  while the singers with musical instruments were leading the praise. Athaliah tore her clothes and screamed, ‘Treason! Treason! ’


Then Jehoiada made a covenant between himself, the king, and the people that they would be the Lord’s people.


It is in my heart now to make a covenant with the Lord, the God of Israel  so that his burning anger may turn away from us.


Therefore, let’s make a covenant before our God  to send away all the foreign wives and their children, according to the counsel of my lord and of those who tremble at the command of our God.  Let it be done according to the law.


Those whose seals were on the document were the governor Nehemiah  son of Hacaliah, and Zedekiah,


I also shook the folds of my robe and said, ‘May God likewise shake from his house and property everyone who doesn’t keep this promise. May he be shaken out  and have nothing! ’ The whole assembly said, ‘Amen,’ and they praised the Lord. Then the people did as they had promised.


In view of all this, we are making a binding agreement  in writing on a sealed document containing the names of our leaders, Levites, and priests.


Moses came and told the people all the commands of the Lord and all the ordinances. Then all the people responded with a single voice, ‘We will do everything that the Lord has commanded.’


Keep  the king’s command because of your oath made before God.


Today you repented and did what pleased me, each of you proclaiming freedom for his neighbour. You made a covenant before me  at the house that bears my name.


This is the word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord after King Zedekiah made a covenant with all the people who were in Jerusalem to proclaim freedom  to them.


then you can swear, ‘As the  Lord  lives,’ in truth,  justice, and righteousness, and then the nations will be blessed  by him and will boast in him.


They will ask about Zion, turning their faces to this road. They will come and join themselves  to the  Lord in a permanent covenant  that will never be forgotten.


‘And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God ask of you except to fear  the Lord your God by walking in all his ways, to love him, and to worship the Lord your God with all your heart and all your soul?


‘If you carefully obey my commands I am giving you today, to love the Lord your God and worship him with all your heart and all your soul,


You must follow the Lord your God and fear him. You must keep his commands and listen to him; you must worship him and remain faithful  to him.


These are the words of the covenant  that the Lord commanded Moses to make with the Israelites in the land of Moab, in addition to the covenant he had made with them at Horeb.


These are the decrees, statutes, and ordinances Moses proclaimed to them after they came out of Egypt,


‘This is the command #– #the statutes and ordinances #– #the Lord your God has commanded me to teach you, so that you may follow them in the land you are about to enter and possess.


Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.


If you ever forget the Lord your God and follow other gods to serve them and bow in worship to them, I testify against you today that you will certainly perish.


and to Jesus, the mediator  of a new covenant,  and to the sprinkled blood, which says better things than the blood of Abel.


Now may the God of peace, who brought up from the dead our Lord Jesus #– #the great Shepherd of the sheep   #– #through the blood of the everlasting covenant,
