Abraham took the wood for the burnt offering and laid it on his son Isaac.  In his hand he took the fire and the knife,  and the two of them walked on together.


Abraham answered, ‘God himself will provide  , the lamb for the burnt offering, my son.’ Then the two of them walked on together.


and Elijah said to Elisha,  ‘Stay here;  the Lord is sending me on to Bethel.’ But Elisha replied, ‘As the Lord lives and as you yourself live, I will not leave you.’  So they went down to Bethel.


The boy’s mother said to Elisha, ‘As the Lord lives and as you yourself live, I will not leave you.’  So he got up and followed her.


Now the Jordan overflows its banks throughout the harvest season.  But as soon as the priests carrying the ark reached the Jordan, their feet touched the water at its edge


Command the priests carrying the ark of the covenant: When you reach the edge of the water,  stand in the Jordan.’
