I am about to put a spirit in him, and he will hear a rumour and return to his own land,  where I will cause him to fall by the sword.” ’


Who can strip off his outer covering? Who can penetrate his double layer of armour?  ,


Can you put a cord  through his nose or pierce his jaw with a hook?


His breath is like an overflowing torrent that rises to the neck. He comes to sift the nations in a sieve of destruction and to put a bridle on the jaws of the peoples to lead them astray.


They put a wooden yoke on him  with hooks and led him away to the king of Babylon. They brought him into the fortresses so that his roar could no longer be heard on the mountains of Israel.


I will put hooks in your jaws and make the fish of your streams cling to your scales. I will haul you up from the middle of your Nile, and all the fish of your streams will cling to your scales.


You boasted against me  with your mouth, and spoke many words against me. I heard it myself!


I will turn you around, put hooks in your jaws,  and bring you out with all your army, including horses and riders,  who are all splendidly dressed, a huge assembly armed with large and small shields, all of them brandishing swords.


The Lord God has sworn  by his holiness: Look, the days are coming when you will be taken away with hooks, every last one of you with fish hooks.


They, however, were filled with rage and started discussing with one another what they might do to Jesus.


‘If the world hates   you, understand that it hated me before it hated you.


‘You stiff-necked  people with uncircumcised hearts and ears!  You are always resisting the Holy Spirit. As your ancestors did, you do also.
