21 I fear that when I come my God will again  humiliate me in your presence, and I will grieve for many who sinned before and have not repented  of the moral impurity, sexual immorality,  and sensuality  they practised.

While Ezra prayed and confessed, weeping and falling face down  before the house of God, an extremely large assembly of Israelite men, women, and children gathered around him. The people also wept bitterly.


When I heard this report, I tore my tunic and robe, pulled out some of the hair from my head and beard, and sat down devastated.


So Moses returned to the Lord and said, ‘Oh, these people have committed a grave sin; they have made a god of gold for themselves.


But if you will not listen, my innermost being will weep in secret because of your pride. My eyes will overflow with tears, for the Lord’s flock  has been taken captive.


If my head were a flowing spring, my eyes a fountain of tears, I would weep day and night over the slain of my dear   people.


Let us walk with decency,  as in the daytime: not in carousing and drunkenness;  not in sexual impurity and promiscuity; not in quarrelling and jealousy.


that I have great sorrow and unceasing anguish in my heart.


It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality  among you, and the kind of sexual immorality that is not even tolerated  among the Gentiles   #– #a man is sleeping with his father’s wife.


And we are ready to punish any disobedience, once your obedience is complete.


especially because of the extraordinary revelations. Therefore, so that I would not exalt myself, a thorn in the flesh  was given to me, a messenger of Satan  to torment me so that I would not exalt myself.


I gave a warning when I was present the second time, and now I give a warning  while I am absent to those who sinned before and to all the rest: If I come again, I will not be lenient,


Therefore, show them proof before the churches of your love and of our boasting  about you.


Now the works of the flesh are obvious:  sexual immorality,  moral impurity,  promiscuity,


‘So I went back down the mountain, while it was blazing with fire, and the two tablets of the covenant were in my hands.


‘I fell down in the presence of the Lord for forty days and forty nights because the Lord had threatened to destroy you.


Therefore, put to death what belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity,  lust,  evil desire, and greed,  which is idolatry.


Marriage is to be honoured by all and the marriage bed kept undefiled, because God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers.


For by uttering boastful, empty words,  they seduce, with fleshly desires and debauchery, people who have barely escaped  from those who live in error.


save others by snatching them from the fire;  have mercy on others but with fear,  hating  even the garment  defiled by the flesh.


Likewise, Sodom and Gomorrah  and the surrounding towns committed sexual immorality and perversions,  and serve as an example by undergoing the punishment of eternal fire.


But the cowards, faithless,  detestable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars   #– #their share will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulphur,  which is the second death.’


Outside are the dogs,   the sorcerers, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idolaters, and everyone who loves and practises falsehood.


He who testifies about these things  says, ‘Yes, I am coming soon.’ Amen! Come, Lord Jesus!


Even to the day of his death, Samuel never saw Saul again.  Samuel mourned for Saul,  and the Lord regretted he had made Saul king over Israel.
