Are you not our God who drove out the inhabitants of this land before your people Israel  and who gave it for ever to the descendants of Abraham  your friend?

So Moses and Aaron went in to Pharaoh and told him, ‘This is what the Lord, the God of the Hebrews, says: How long will you refuse to humble yourself before me? Let my people go, that they may worship me.

They will listen to what you say. Then you, along with the elders of Israel, must go to the king of Egypt and say to him: The Lord, the God of the Hebrews, has met with us. Now please let us go on a three-day trip into the wilderness so that we may sacrifice to the Lord our God.

They answered, ‘The God of the Hebrews has met with us. Please let us go on a three-day trip into the wilderness so that we may sacrifice to the Lord our God, or else he may strike us with plague or sword.’

Tell him: The Lord, the God of the Hebrews, has sent me to tell you: Let my people go, so that they may worship  me in the wilderness. But so far you have not listened.

Then the Lord said to Moses, ‘Go in to Pharaoh and say to him: This is what the Lord, the God of the Hebrews, says: Let my people go, so that they may worship me.

Then the Lord said to Moses, ‘Get up early in the morning and present yourself to Pharaoh. Tell him: This is what the Lord, the God of the Hebrews says: Let my people go, so that they may worship me.

And don’t presume to say to yourselves, “We have Abraham as our father.”  For I tell you that God is able to raise up children for Abraham from these stones.

He  continued, ‘I am a Jew, born in Tarsus of Cilicia but brought up in this city, educated at the feet of Gamaliel  according to the strictness of our ancestral law. I was zealous for God, just as all of you are today.

In those days, as the disciples  were increasing in number, there arose a complaint by the Hellenistic Jews against the Hebraic Jews that their widows were being overlooked in the daily distribution.

I ask, then, has God rejected his people?  Absolutely not!  For I too am an Israelite, a descendant of Abraham,  from the tribe of Benjamin.

They are Israelites,  and to them belong the adoption,  the glory,  the covenants,  the giving of the law,  the temple service,  and the promises.

Now the promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. He does not say ‘and to seeds’, as though referring to many, but referring to one, and to your seed,   , who is Christ.
