8 Blessed be the Lord your God! He delighted in you and put you on his throne as king for the Lord your God.  Because your God loved Israel enough to establish them for ever, he has set you over them as king to carry out justice and righteousness.’

The God of Israel spoke; the Rock of Israel said to me, ‘The one who rules the people with justice, who rules in the fear of God,


So David reigned over all Israel, administering justice and righteousness for all his people.


Blessed be the Lord your God! He delighted in you and put you on the throne of Israel,  because of the Lord’s eternal love for Israel.  He has made you king to carry out justice and righteousness.’


All Israel heard about the judgement the king had given, and they stood in awe of the king because they saw that God’s wisdom  was in him to carry out justice.


You made your people Israel your own people for ever, and you, Lord, have become their God.


And out of all my sons   #– #for the Lord has given me many sons #– #he has chosen my son Solomon to sit on the throne of the Lord’s kingdom over Israel.


Then David blessed the Lord in the sight of all the assembly. David said, May you be blessed, Lord God of our father Israel, from eternity to eternity.


Then David said to the whole assembly, ‘Blessed be the Lord your God.’ So the whole assembly praised the Lord God of their ancestors.  They knelt low and paid homage to the Lord and the king.


Solomon sat on the Lord’s throne as king in place of his father David. He prospered, and all Israel obeyed him.


‘And now you are saying you can assert yourselves against the Lord’s kingdom, which is in the hand of one of David’s sons. You are a vast number and have with you the golden calves that Jeroboam made for you as gods.  ,


I will give your servants, the woodcutters who cut the trees, four million four hundred thousand litres  of wheat flour, four million four hundred thousand litres of barley, four hundred and forty thousand litres  of wine, and four hundred and forty thousand litres of oil.


Then King Hiram of Tyre wrote a letter  and sent it to Solomon: Because the Lord loves his people, he set you over them as king.


How happy are your men.  , How happy are these servants of yours, who always stand in your presence hearing your wisdom.


Then she gave the king four tonnes  of gold, a great quantity of spices, and precious stones. There never were such spices as those the queen of Sheba gave to King Solomon.


Doing what is righteous and just is more acceptable to the  Lord than sacrifice.


By justice a king brings stability to a land, but a person who demands ‘contributions’ demolishes it.


‘This  is my servant;  I strengthen him, this is my chosen one;  I delight in him. I have put my Spirit on him; he will bring justice  to the nations.


You will no longer be called Deserted, and your land will not be called Desolate; instead, you will be called My Delight Is in Her, and your land Married;  , for the Lord delights in you, and your land will be married.


The dominion will be vast, and its prosperity will never end. He will reign on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish and sustain it with justice and righteousness from now on and for ever. The zeal of the Lord of Armies will accomplish this.


But because the Lord loved  you and kept the oath he swore to your ancestors, he brought you out with a strong hand and redeemed  you from the place of slavery, from the power of Pharaoh king of Egypt.
