You think mere words are strategy and strength for war. Who are you now relying on so that you have rebelled against me?


The rest of the events of Hezekiah’s reign, along with all his might and how he made the pool  and the tunnel and brought water into the city,  are written in the Historical Record of Judah’s Kings.


For the king and his officials and the entire congregation in Jerusalem decided to observe the Passover of the Lord in the second month,


Hezekiah saw that Sennacherib had come and that he planned  war on Jerusalem,


This same Hezekiah blocked the upper outlet of the water from the Gihon Spring  and channelled it smoothly downwards and westwards to the city of David.  Hezekiah succeeded in everything he did.


Many people gathered and stopped up all the springs  and the stream that flowed through the land;  they said, ‘Why should the kings of Assyria come and find abundant water? ’


Plans fail when there is no counsel, but with many advisers they succeed.


Finalise plans with counsel, and wage war with sound guidance.


for you should wage war with sound guidance – victory comes with many counsellors.


Who has instructed  the Spirit of the  Lord, or who gave him counsel?


Draw water for the siege; strengthen your fortresses. Step into the clay and tread the mortar; take hold of the brick-mould!


For who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has been his counsellor?
