2 Chronicles 29:16 - Christian Standard Bible Anglicised

16 The priests went to the entrance of the Lord’s temple to cleanse it. They took all the unclean things they found in the Lord’s sanctuary to the courtyard of the Lord’s temple. Then the Levites received them and took them outside to the Kidron Valley.

Everyone in the countryside was weeping loudly while all the people were marching out of the city. As the king was crossing the Kidron Valley, all the people were marching past on the road that leads to the wilderness.


King Asa  also removed Maacah, his grandmother,  , from being queen mother because she had made an obscene image of Asherah. Asa chopped down her obscene image, then crushed it and burned it in the Kidron Valley.


Then he made the most holy place; its length corresponded to the width of the temple, nine metres, and its width was nine metres.  He overlaid it with twenty tonnes  of fine gold.


They proceeded to take away the altars that were in Jerusalem,  and they took away the incense altars and threw them into the Kidron Valley.


The priests brought the ark of the Lord’s covenant to its place, into the inner sanctuary of the temple, to the most holy place, beneath the wings of the cherubim.


I ordered that the rooms be purified,  and I had the articles of the house of God restored there, along with the grain offering and frankincense.


I will save you from all your uncleanness. I will summon the corn and make it plentiful, and I will not bring famine on you.


‘Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs,   which appear beautiful on the outside, but inside are full of the bones of the dead and every kind of impurity.


After  Jesus had said these things, he went out with his disciples across the Kidron Valley, where there was a garden, and he and his disciples went into it.
