When the Arameans of Damascus  came to assist King Hadadezer of Zobah, David struck down twenty-two thousand Aramean men.


The prophet approached the king of Israel and said to him, ‘Go and strengthen yourself, then consider carefully  what you should do, for in the spring  the king of Aram will attack you.’


In the spring, Ben-hadad mobilised the Arameans and went up to Aphek  to battle Israel.


Vengeance and retribution belong to me.  , In time their foot will slip, for their day of disaster is near, and their doom is coming quickly.’
