But the Arameans fled before Israel, and David killed seven hundred of their charioteers and forty thousand foot soldiers.  He also struck down Shobach commander of their army, who died there.


for the Lord  had caused the Aramean camp to hear the sound of chariots, horses, and a large army.  The Arameans had said to each other, ‘The king of Israel must have hired the kings of the Hittites  and the kings of Egypt  to attack us.’


So the Lord routed the Cushites before Asa and before Judah,  and the Cushites fled.


Asa had an army of three hundred thousand from Judah bearing large shields and spears,  and two hundred and eighty thousand from Benjamin bearing shields and drawing the bow. All these were valiant warriors.


Then Zerah the Cushite came against them with an army of one million men and three hundred  chariots. They came as far as Mareshah.


Were not the Cushites and Libyans a vast army with many chariots and horsemen?  When you depended on the Lord, he handed them over to you.


For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, and your Saviour. I have given Egypt as a ransom for you, Cush and Seba in your place.


Cush, Put, and Lud, and all the various foreign troops, as well as Libya  and the men of the covenant land will fall by the sword along with them.


He will get control over the hidden treasures of gold and silver and over all the riches of Egypt. The Libyans and Cushites will also be in submission.  ,


Cush and Egypt were her endless source of strength; Put and Libya were among her   allies.


The number of mounted troops was two hundred million;  I heard their number.
