Since the Lord had decreed  that Ahithophel’s good advice be undermined  in order to bring about Absalom’s ruin, Absalom and all the men of Israel said, ‘The advice of Hushai the Archite is better than Ahithophel’s advice.’


He asked them, ‘What message do you advise we send back to this people who said to me, “Lighten the yoke your father put on us”? ’


since you neglected all my counsel and did not accept my correction,


The one who walks with the wise will become wise, but a companion of fools will suffer harm.


Listen to counsel and receive instruction so that you may be wise later in life.  ,


A wise correction to a receptive ear is like a gold ring or an ornament of gold.


Don’t abandon your friend or your father’s friend, and don’t go to your brother’s house in your time of calamity; better a neighbour nearby than a brother far away.


Instruct the wise, and he will be wiser still; teach the righteous, and he will learn more.


Woe to you, land, when your king is a youth and your princes feast in the morning.


Woe to the rebellious children! This is the  Lord’s declaration. They carry out a plan,  but not mine; they make an alliance, but against my will, piling sin on top of sin.
