17 Instruct those who are rich in the present age not to be arrogant  or to set their hope on the uncertainty of wealth, but on God,  who richly provides us with all things  to enjoy.

Abram was very rich in livestock, silver, and gold.


But when he became strong, he grew arrogant,  and it led to his own destruction. He acted unfaithfully against the Lord his God by going into the Lord’s sanctuary to burn incense on the incense altar.


Anyone trusting in his riches will fall, but the righteous will flourish like foliage.


As soon as your eyes fly to it, it disappears, for it makes wings for itself and flies like an eagle to the sky.


for wealth is not for ever; not even a crown lasts for all time.


Otherwise, I might have too much and deny you,  saying, ‘Who is the  Lord? ’ or I might have nothing and steal, profaning  the name of my God.


There is nothing better for a person than to eat, drink, and enjoy  , his work.  I have seen that even this is from God’s hand,


Evil generation, pay attention to the word of the  Lord! Have I been a wilderness to Israel or a land of dense darkness? Why do my people claim, ‘We will go where we want; we will no longer come to you’?


Why do you boast about your valleys, your flowing valley, you faithless daughter – you who trust in your treasures and say, ‘Who can attack me? ’


Didn’t you treat your sister Sodom as an object of scorn when you were proud,


the king exclaimed, ‘Is this not Babylon the Great that I have built to be a royal residence by my vast power and for my majestic glory? ’


When they had pasture, they became satisfied; they were satisfied, and their hearts became proud. Therefore they forgot me.


Whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man,   it will be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him, either in this age or in the one to come.


Jesus said to his disciples, ‘Truly I tell you, it will be hard for a rich person to enter the kingdom of heaven.


the man who had received five talents went, put them to work, and earned five more.


When it was evening,  a rich man from Arimathea named Joseph came, who himself had also become a disciple  of Jesus.


For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.

There was a man named Zacchaeus who was a chief tax collector, and he was rich.


He replied to them, ‘The one who has two shirts must share with someone who has none, and the one who has food must do the same.’


although he did not leave himself without a witness,  since he did what is good by giving you rain from heaven and fruitful seasons  and filling you with food and your hearts with joy.’


After they arrived and gathered the church together, they reported everything God had done with them  and that he had opened the door  of faith to the Gentiles.


Neither is he served by human hands, as though he needed anything,  since he himself gives everyone life and breath and all things.


True enough; they were broken off because of unbelief, but you stand by faith.  Do not be arrogant, but beware,  ,


For know and recognise this: Every sexually immoral  or impure  or greedy  person, who is an idolater, does not have an inheritance in the kingdom  of Christ and of God.


with the best products of the ancient mountains and the bounty of the eternal hills;


You may say to yourself, “My power and my own ability have gained this wealth for me,”


Let the word of Christ dwell richly among you, in all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another through psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs,  singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.


for they themselves report  what kind of reception  we had from you: how you turned  to God from idols  to serve the living  and true  God


As I urged you when I went to Macedonia,  remain in Ephesus  so that you may instruct certain people  not to teach false doctrine


But if I should be delayed, I have written so that you will know how people ought to conduct themselves in God’s household,  which is the church of the living God,  the pillar and foundation of the truth.


For this reason we labour and strive,  because we have put our hope in the living God,  who is the Saviour  of all people,  especially of those who believe.


I solemnly charge you before God and Christ Jesus and the elect angels to observe  these things without prejudice, doing nothing out of favouritism.


In the presence of God, who gives life to all,  and of Christ Jesus, who gave a good confession before Pontius Pilate,  I charge you


But those who want to be rich fall into temptation, a trap, and many foolish and harmful desires, which plunge people into ruin and destruction.


because Demas  has deserted me,  since he loved this present world, and has gone to Thessalonica.  Crescens has gone to Galatia,  Titus  to Dalmatia.


instructing us to deny godlessness  and worldly lusts  and to live in a sensible, righteous,  and godly  way in the present age,


He poured out his Spirit on us abundantly  through Jesus Christ our Saviour


For in this way, entry into the eternal kingdom  of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ will be richly provided for you.
