26 Saul went along one side of the mountain and David and his men went along the other side. Even though David was hurrying to get away from Saul, Saul and his men were closing in on David and his men to capture them.

David said to all the servants with him in Jerusalem, ‘Get up. We have to flee, or we will not escape from Absalom!  Leave quickly, or he will overtake us quickly, heap disaster on us, and strike the city with the edge of the sword.’


Our God, will you not judge them?  For we are powerless before this vast number that comes to fight against us. We do not know what to do, but we look to you.  ,


We don’t want you to be unaware, brothers and sisters, of our affliction that took place in Asia.  We were completely overwhelmed #– #beyond our strength   #– #so that we even despaired  of life itself.

and Saul and his men went to look for him. When David was told about it, he went down to the rock and stayed in the Wilderness of Maon. Saul heard of this and pursued David there.


Then a messenger came to Saul saying, ‘Come quickly, because the Philistines have raided the land! ’
