If they will diligently learn the ways of my people   #– #to swear by my name, “As the Lord lives,” just as they taught my people to swear by Baal #– #they will be built up among my people.


then you can swear, ‘As the  Lord  lives,’ in truth,  justice, and righteousness, and then the nations will be blessed  by him and will boast in him.


When they say, ‘As the  Lord  lives,’ they are swearing falsely.


Those who swear by the guilt of Samaria and say, ‘As your god lives, Dan,’ or, ‘As the way  , of Beer-sheba lives’   – they will fall, never to rise again.


I will shoot three arrows beside it as if I’m aiming at a target.


But if I say this to the youth, “Look, the arrows are beyond you! ”  then go, for the Lord is sending you away.


He said to the servant, ‘Run and find the arrows I’m shooting.’  As the servant ran, Jonathan shot an arrow beyond him.
