27 David and his men went out and killed two hundred  Philistines. He brought their foreskins and presented them as full payment to the king to become his son-in-law. Then Saul gave his daughter Michal to David as his wife.

David replied, ‘Good, I will make a covenant with you. However, there’s one thing I require of you: You will not see my face unless you first bring Saul’s daughter Michal  when you come to see me.’


Then David sent messengers to say to Ish-bosheth son of Saul, ‘Give me back my wife Michal. I was engaged to her for the price of a hundred Philistine foreskins.’


The Spirit of the Lord came powerfully on him, and he went down to Ashkelon and killed thirty of their men. He stripped them and gave their clothes to those who had explained the riddle. In a rage, Samson returned to his father’s house,


Saul’s sons  were Jonathan, Ishvi, and Malchishua. The names of his two daughters were Merab,  his firstborn, and Michal,  the younger.


Therefore, Saul sent David away from him and made him commander over a thousand men. David led the troops


Saul told David, ‘Here is my eldest daughter Merab. I’ll give her to you as a wife  if you will be a warrior for me and fight the Lord’s battles.’  But Saul was thinking, ‘I don’t need to raise a hand against him; let the hand of the Philistines be against him.’


Saul realised  that the Lord was with David and that his daughter Michal loved him,


But Saul gave his daughter Michal, David’s wife, to Palti  son of Laish, who was from Gallim.
