51 David ran and stood over him. He grabbed the Philistine’s sword,  pulled it from its sheath, and used it to kill him. Then he cut off his head. When the Philistines saw that their hero was dead, they fled.

He also killed an Egyptian, an impressive man. Even though the Egyptian had a spear in his hand, Benaiah went down to him with a staff, snatched the spear out of the Egyptian’s hand, and then killed him with his own spear.


They had entered the house while Ish-bosheth was lying on his bed in his bedroom and stabbed and killed him. They removed his head, took it, and travelled by way of the Arabah  all night.


They hanged Haman on the gallows he had prepared for Mordecai.  Then the king’s anger subsided.


quenched the raging of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, gained strength in weakness, became mighty in battle, and put foreign armies to flight.


Now since the children have flesh and blood in common, Jesus also shared in these, so that through his death he might destroy the one holding the power of death #– #that is, the devil   #– #


David defeated the Philistine with a sling and a stone. David overpowered the Philistine and killed him without having a sword.


David fled that day from Saul’s presence and went to King Achish of Gath.


The priest replied, ‘The sword of Goliath the Philistine,  whom you killed in the Valley of Elah, is here, wrapped in a cloth behind the ephod. If you want to take it for yourself, then take it, for there isn’t another one here.’ ‘There’s none like it! ’ David said. ‘Give it to me.’


They cut off Saul’s head, stripped off his armour, and sent messengers throughout the land of the Philistines to spread the good news  in the temples of their idols  and among the people.
