Nathan replied to David, ‘You are the man! This is what the Lord God of Israel says: “I anointed you king over Israel,  and I rescued you from Saul.


Then the men of Judah came, and there they anointed David king over the house of Judah.  They told David, ‘It was the men of Jabesh-gilead who buried Saul.’


These are the last words of David: The declaration of David son of Jesse, the declaration of the man raised on high, the one anointed by the God of Jacob. This is the most delightful of Israel’s songs.


So all the elders of Israel came to the king at Hebron. King David made a covenant with them  at Hebron in the Lord’s presence, and they anointed David king over Israel.


So Jehu got up and went into the house. The young prophet poured the oil on his head and said, ‘This is what the Lord God of Israel says: “I anoint you king over the Lord’s people, Israel.


So all the elders of Israel came to the king at Hebron. David made a covenant with them at Hebron in the Lord’s presence, and they anointed David king over Israel, in keeping with the Lord’s word through Samuel.


Then I will come down and speak with you there. I will take some of the Spirit who is on you and put the Spirit on them.  They will help you bear the burden of the people, so that you do not have to bear it by yourself.


The Lord replied to Moses, ‘Take Joshua son of Nun, a man who has the Spirit in him, and lay your hands on him.


For the one whom God sent speaks God’s words, since he  gives the Spirit  without measure.


After removing him,  he raised up David as their king and testified about him, “I have found David the son of Jesse to be a man after my own heart,  , who will carry out all my will.”


You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness; this is why God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of joy beyond your companions.   ,

The Spirit of the Lord came on Jephthah, who travelled through Gilead and Manasseh, and then through Mizpah of Gilead. He crossed over to the Ammonites from Mizpah of Gilead.


Then the Spirit of the Lord began to stir him in the Camp of Dan,  between Zorah and Eshtaol.

The Spirit of the Lord came on him, and he judged Israel. Othniel went out to battle, and the Lord handed over King Cushan-rishathaim of Aram to him, so that Othniel overpowered him.


The next morning Elkanah and Hannah got up early to worship before the Lord. Afterwards, they returned home to Ramah.  Then Elkanah was intimate with his wife Hannah, and the Lord remembered her.


Samuel took the flask of oil,  poured it out on Saul’s head,  kissed him, and said, ‘Hasn’t the Lord anointed you  ruler over his inheritance?  ,


The Spirit of the Lord will come powerfully on you,  you will prophesy with them,  and you will be transformed.


When Saul heard these words, the Spirit of God suddenly came powerfully on him,  and his anger burned furiously.


One of the young men answered, ‘I have seen a son of Jesse of Bethlehem who knows how to play the lyre. He is also a valiant man,  a warrior, eloquent, handsome, and the Lord is with him.’


Saul was afraid of David,  because the Lord was with David  but had left Saul.


‘ “Then I will raise up a faithful priest  for myself. He will do whatever is in my heart and mind. I will establish a lasting dynasty for him,  and he will walk before my anointed one for all time.
