‘I am pure, without transgression; I am clean and have no iniquity.


For Job has declared, ‘I am righteous, yet God has deprived me of justice.


Do you think it is just when you say, ‘I am righteous before God’?


Would you really challenge my justice? Would you declare me guilty  to justify yourself?


‘I have kept all these,’  the young man told him. ‘What do I still lack? ’


But wanting to justify himself,  he asked Jesus, ‘And who is my neighbour? ’


The Pharisee was standing   and praying like this about himself:   “God, I thank you that I’m not like other people #– #greedy,   unrighteous,   adulterers,   or even like this tax collector.


Since they are ignorant of the righteousness of God  and attempted to establish their own righteousness, they have not submitted to God’s righteousness.


When Samuel came to him, Saul said, ‘May the Lord bless you.  I have carried out the Lord’s instructions.’


Now go and attack the Amalekites and completely destroy everything they have.  Do not spare them. Kill men and women, infants and nursing babies, oxen and sheep, camels and donkeys.” ’


He captured King Agag  of Amalek alive, but he completely destroyed all the rest of the people with the sword.


You did not obey the Lord and did not carry out his burning anger against Amalek;  therefore the Lord has done this to you today.
