1 Samuel 10:3 - Christian Standard Bible Anglicised

3 ‘You will proceed from there until you come to the oak of Tabor.  Three men going up to God at Bethel  will meet you there, one bringing three goats, one bringing three loaves of bread, and one bringing a clay jar of wine.

and named the place Bethel,  though previously the city was named Luz.


This stone that I have set up as a marker will be God’s house, and I will give to you a tenth of all that you give me.’


God said to Jacob, ‘Get up! Go to Bethel and settle there.  Build an altar there to the God who appeared to you when you fled from your brother Esau.’


We must get up and go to Bethel. I will build an altar there to the God who answered me in my day of distress.  He has been with me everywhere I have gone.’


‘Then, as the Lord had said, my cousin Hanamel came to the guard’s courtyard and urged me, “Please buy my field in Anathoth in the land of Benjamin, for you own the right of inheritance and redemption. Buy it for yourself.” Then I knew that this was the word of the Lord.


‘But if his offering for a burnt offering is from the flock, from sheep or goats,  he is to present an unblemished male.


Its grain offering is to be four litres  of fine flour mixed with oil as a food offering to the Lord, a pleasing aroma, and its drink offering will be one litre  of wine.


‘If his offering is a goat,  he is to present it before the Lord.


‘If his offering as a fellowship sacrifice to the Lord is from the flock, he is to present a male or female without blemish.


He is to present as his offering cakes of leavened bread with his thanksgiving sacrifice of fellowship.


From Sarid, it turned due east along the border of Chisloth-tabor, went to Daberath, and went up to Japhia.


The border reached Tabor, Shahazumah, and Beth-shemesh, and ended at the Jordan #– #sixteen cities, with their settlements.


They set out, went to Bethel, and enquired of God.  The Israelites asked, ‘Who is to go first to fight for us against the Benjaminites? ’ And the Lord answered, ‘Judah will be first.’


They went up, wept  before the Lord until evening,  and enquired of him, ‘Should we again attack our brothers the Benjaminites? ’ And the Lord answered, ‘Fight against them.’


Then the Israelites enquired of the Lord. In those days, the ark of the covenant  of God was there,


It was reported to Sisera that Barak son of Abinoam had gone up Mount Tabor.


She summoned Barak son of Abinoam from Kedesh in Naphtali and said to him, ‘Hasn’t the Lord, the God of Israel,  commanded you, “Go, deploy the troops on Mount Tabor,  and take with you ten thousand men from the Naphtalites  and Zebulunites?


He asked Zebah and Zalmunna, ‘What kind of men did you kill at Tabor? ’ ‘They were like you,’ they said. ‘Each resembled the son of a king.’


They will ask how you are and give you two loaves  of bread, which you will accept from them.
