Therefore, in the east honour the  Lord! In the coasts and islands of the west honour the name of the  Lord, the God of Israel.


The Lord God will help me; therefore I have not been humiliated; therefore I have set my face like flint, and I know I will not be put to shame.


‘Do not be afraid, for you will not be put to shame; don’t be humiliated, for you will not be disgraced. For you will forget the shame of your youth, and you will no longer remember the disgrace of your widowhood.


and when he found him he brought him to Antioch. For a whole year they met with the church and taught large numbers. The disciples  were first called Christians at Antioch.


Agrippa said to Paul, ‘Are you going to persuade me to become a Christian so easily? ’


But we want to hear what your views are, since we know that people everywhere are speaking against this sect.’


Then they went out from the presence of the Sanhedrin, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to be treated shamefully on behalf of the Name.  ,


My eager expectation and hope  is that I will not be ashamed about anything, but that now as always, with all courage, Christ will be highly honoured in my body, whether by life  or by death.


For it has been granted to you on Christ’s behalf not only to believe  in him, but also to suffer for him,


and that is why I suffer  these things. But I am not ashamed, because I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that he is able to guard what has been entrusted to me  , until that day.


Don’t they blaspheme the good name that was invoked over you?


Conduct  yourselves honourably among the Gentiles,  so that when they slander you as evildoers, they will observe your good works and will glorify God on the day he visits.


If anyone speaks, let it be as one who speaks God’s words; if anyone serves, let it be from the strength God provides,  so that God may be glorified through Jesus Christ in everything. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.


If you are ridiculed for the name of Christ,  you are blessed, because the Spirit  of glory and of God  rests on you.


So then, let those who suffer according to God’s will entrust themselves  to a faithful Creator while doing what is good.
