When your time comes and you rest with your ancestors, I will raise up after you your descendant, who will come from your body, and I will establish his kingdom.


When Hadad heard in Egypt that David rested with his ancestors and that Joab, the commander of the army, was dead, Hadad said to Pharaoh, ‘Let me leave, so I may go to my own country.’


Solomon rested with his ancestors and was buried in the city of his father David. His son Rehoboam  became king in his place.


Rehoboam rested with his ancestors and was buried with his ancestors in the city of David. His mother’s name was Naamah the Ammonite.  His son Abijam  , became king in his place.


Then David rested with his ancestors  and was buried in the city of David.


The rest of the events of Ahab’s reign, along with all his accomplishments, including the ivory palace  he built, and all the cities he built, are written in the Historical Record of Israel’s Kings.


Jehoshaphat  son of Asa became king over Judah in the fourth year of Israel’s King Ahab.


Ahaziah  son of Ahab became king over Israel in Samaria  in the seventeenth year of Judah’s King Jehoshaphat,  and he reigned over Israel for two years.


He did what was evil in the Lord’s sight.  He walked in the ways of his father,  in the ways of his mother,  and in the ways of Jeroboam son of Nebat, who had caused Israel to sin.


Ahaziah died according to the word of the Lord that Elijah had spoken. Since he had no son, Joram  , became king in his place. This happened in the second year of Judah’s King Jehoram  son of Jehoshaphat.


Ahaziah  had fallen through the latticed window of his upstairs room in Samaria  and was injured. So he sent messengers, instructing them, ‘Go and enquire of Baal-zebub,  , the god of Ekron,  whether I will recover from this injury.’


After this,  Judah’s King Jehoshaphat made an alliance with Israel’s King Ahaziah, who was guilty of wrongdoing.


The Lord said to Moses, ‘You are about to rest with your ancestors,  and these people will soon prostitute themselves with the foreign gods  of the land they are entering. They will abandon me  and break the covenant  I have made with them.
