When Isaac was old and his eyes were so weak that he could not see,  he called his elder son Esau and said to him, ‘My son.’ And he answered, ‘Here I am.’


Now his eyesight was poor because of old age; he could hardly  see.  Joseph brought them to him, and he kissed and embraced them.


During that time, the prophet Ahijah the Shilonite  met Jeroboam on the road as Jeroboam came out of Jerusalem. Now Ahijah had wrapped himself with a new cloak, and the two of them were alone in the open field.


Jeroboam said to his wife, ‘Go and disguise yourself,  so they won’t know that you’re Jeroboam’s wife, and go to Shiloh.  The prophet Ahijah is there; it was he who told about me becoming king over this people.


on the day when the guardians of the house tremble, and the strong men stoop, the women who grind grain cease because they are few, and the ones who watch through the windows see dimly,


Moses was 120 years old when he died; his eyes were not weak, and his vitality had not left him.


The entire Israelite community assembled at Shiloh  and set up the tent of meeting there. The land had been subdued before them,


One day Eli, whose eyesight was failing,  was lying in his usual place.


At that time Eli was ninety-eight years old, and his eyes didn’t move  because he couldn’t see.
