21 When Rehoboam arrived in Jerusalem,  he mobilised one hundred and eighty thousand fit young soldiers from the entire house of Judah and the tribe of Benjamin  to fight against the house of Israel to restore the kingdom to Rehoboam son of Solomon.

but one tribe will remain his for the sake of my servant David  and for the sake of Jerusalem, the city I chose out of all the tribes of Israel.


There was war between Rehoboam and Jeroboam throughout their reigns.


Joab gave the total troop registration to David. In all Israel there were one million one hundred thousand armed men  and in Judah itself four hundred and seventy thousand armed men.


Then Asa cried out to the Lord his God,  ‘Lord, there is no one besides you to help the mighty and those without strength. Help us, Lord our God, for we depend on you,  and in your name we have come against this large army. Lord, you are our God. Do not let a mere mortal hinder you.’


Asa had an army of three hundred thousand from Judah bearing large shields and spears,  and two hundred and eighty thousand from Benjamin bearing shields and drawing the bow. All these were valiant warriors.
