7 However, not everyone has this knowledge. Some have been so used to idolatry up until now that when they eat food sacrificed to an idol, their conscience, being weak, is defiled.

but instead we should write to them to abstain from things polluted by idols, from sexual immorality,  from eating anything that has been strangled, and from blood.


I know and am persuaded in the Lord Jesus that nothing is unclean in itself.  Still, to someone who considers a thing to be unclean, to that one it is unclean.


My brothers and sisters, I myself am convinced about you that you also are full of goodness,  filled with all knowledge,  and able to instruct one another.


Eat everything that is sold in the meat market, without raising questions for the sake of conscience,


Now about food sacrificed to idols:  We know that ‘we all have knowledge’. Knowledge puffs up,  but love  builds up.


About eating food sacrificed to idols, then, we know that ‘an idol is nothing in the world’,  and that ‘there is no God but one’.


And we exhort you, brothers and sisters:  warn those who are idle,  comfort the discouraged, help the weak, be patient  with everyone.
