To one he gave five talents,   to another two talents, and to another one talent, depending on each one’s ability. Then he went on a journey.   Immediately


just as the original eye-witnesses  and servants of the word  handed them down to us.


John responded, ‘No one can receive anything unless it has been given to him from heaven.


Now a Jew named Apollos,  a native Alexandrian, an eloquent man who was competent in the use of the Scriptures, arrived in Ephesus.


While Apollos was in Corinth, Paul travelled through the interior regions and came to Ephesus. He found some disciples


to be a minister of Christ Jesus to the Gentiles,  serving as a priest of the gospel of God.  God’s purpose is that the Gentiles may be an acceptable offering,  sanctified by the Holy Spirit.


And God has appointed these in the church:  first apostles, second prophets, third teachers,  next miracles,  then gifts of healing,  helping, leading, various kinds of tongues.


Now about our brother Apollos:  I strongly urged him to come to you with the brothers, but he was not at all willing to come now. However, he will come when he has an opportunity.


According to God’s grace that was given to me, I have laid a foundation as a skilled master builder,  and another builds on it. But each one is to be careful how he builds on it.


whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas  or the world or life  or death  or things present or things to come   #– #everything is yours,


So, then, neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth.


For if I do this willingly, I have a reward, but if unwillingly, I am entrusted  with a commission.


Are they servants of Christ? I’m talking like a madman #– #I’m a better one: with far more labours, many more imprisonments, far worse beatings, many times near death.


You show that you are Christ’s letter,  delivered  by us, not written with ink but with the Spirit of the living God   #– #not on tablets of stone  but on tablets of human hearts.  ,


He has made us competent to be ministers of a new covenant,  not of the letter,  but of the Spirit. For the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.


Therefore, since we have this ministry because we were shown mercy,  we do not give up.


For we are not proclaiming ourselves but Jesus Christ as Lord,  and ourselves as your servants for Jesus’s sake.


Now we have this treasure in clay jars, so that this extraordinary power  may be from God and not from us.


Everything is from God, who has reconciled us to himself through Christ and has given us the ministry of reconciliation.


Working together with him, we also appeal to you, ‘Don’t receive the grace of God in vain.’


Instead, as God’s ministers, we commend ourselves in everything: by great endurance, by afflictions, by hardships, by difficulties,


I was made a servant of this gospel by the gift of God’s grace that was given to me by the working of his power.


if indeed you remain grounded and steadfast in the faith  and are not shifted away from the hope  of the gospel that you heard. This gospel has been proclaimed in all creation  under heaven,  and I, Paul,  have become a servant of it.


I have become its servant, according to God’s commission that was given to me for you, to make the word of God fully known,


I give thanks to Christ Jesus our Lord who has strengthened  me, because he considered me faithful, appointing me to the ministry #– #


Just as each one has received a gift, use it to serve others,  as good stewards of the varied grace of God.
