For if your brother or sister is hurt by what you eat, you are no longer walking according to love.  Do not destroy, by what you eat, someone for whom Christ died.


So also you #– #since you are zealous  for spiritual gifts,  , seek to excel in building up the church.


For you may very well be giving thanks, but the other person is not being built up.


What then, brothers and sisters? Whenever you come together, each one  has a hymn, a teaching, a revelation, a tongue, or an interpretation.  Everything is to be done for building up.


‘Everything is permissible  for me,’ but not everything is beneficial. ‘Everything is permissible for me,’ but I will not be mastered by anything.


Now about food sacrificed to idols:  We know that ‘we all have knowledge’. Knowledge puffs up,  but love  builds up.


But be careful that this right of yours in no way becomes a stumbling block  to the weak.


Have you been thinking all along that we were defending ourselves to you? No, in the sight of God we are speaking in Christ, and everything, dear friends, is for building you up.


No foul language should come from your mouth, but only what is good for building up someone in need,  so that it gives grace to those who hear.


Therefore encourage one another and build each other up as you are already doing.


or to pay attention to myths  and endless genealogies. These promote empty speculations rather than God’s plan,  which operates by faith.
