that I will not take a thread or sandal strap or anything that belongs to you, so you can never say, “I made Abram rich.”


and said to Ephron in the hearing of the people of the land, ‘Listen to me, if you please. Let me pay the price of the field. Accept it from me, and let me bury my dead there.’


to give me the cave of Machpelah that belongs to him; it is at the end of his field. Let him give it to me in your presence, for the full price, as burial property.’


The king answered Araunah, ‘No, I insist on buying it from you for a price, for I will not offer to the Lord my God burnt offerings that cost me nothing.’ David bought the threshing-floor and the oxen for 575 grams  of silver.


Ornan said to David, ‘Take it! My lord the king may do whatever he wants.  See, I give the oxen for the burnt offerings, the threshing sledges for the wood, and the wheat for the grain offering #– #I give it all.’


So David gave Ornan seven kilograms of gold  for the plot.


Do not repay anyone evil for evil.  Give careful thought to do what is honourable  in everyone’s eyes.
