Once again there was a battle with the Philistines at Gob, and Elhanan son of Jaare-oregim the Bethlehemite killed  Goliath of Gath. The shaft of his spear was like a weaver’s beam.


He also killed an Egyptian who was 2.25 metres tall.  Even though the Egyptian had a spear in his hand like a weaver’s beam,  Benaiah went down to him with a staff, snatched the spear out of the Egyptian’s hand, and then killed him with his own spear.


There was still another battle at Gath where there was a man of extraordinary stature with six fingers on each hand and six toes on each foot #– #twenty-four in all. He, too, was descended from the giant.


Then a champion named Goliath, from Gath,  came out from the Philistine camp. He was around 2.8 metres  , tall


His spear shaft  was like a weaver’s beam, and the iron point of his spear weighed seven kilograms.  In addition, a shield-bearer  was walking in front of him.


The priest replied, ‘The sword of Goliath the Philistine,  whom you killed in the Valley of Elah, is here, wrapped in a cloth behind the ephod. If you want to take it for yourself, then take it, for there isn’t another one here.’ ‘There’s none like it! ’ David said. ‘Give it to me.’


Ahimelech enquired of the Lord for him  and gave him provisions.  He also gave him the sword of Goliath the Philistine.’
