The Lord gave them the land and everything else the nations had worked for.

The Lord promised your ancestors that he would bring you into the land of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Hivites, and Jebusites. It is a land rich with milk and honey. Each year during the month of Abib, celebrate these events in the following way:


My angel will lead you into the land of the Amorites, Hittites, Perizzites, Canaanites, Hivites, and Jebusites, and I will wipe them out.


I will make the Hivites, Canaanites, and Hittites panic as you approach.

But the living God will be with you and will force them out of the land when you attack. And now, God is going to prove that he's powerful enough to force them out.


After Israel had crossed the Jordan, the Lord said to Joshua:


It was the tenth day of the first month of the year when Israel crossed the Jordan River. They set up camp at Gilgal, which was east of the land controlled by Jericho.
