4 The Lord promised to give peace to your relatives, and that's what he has done. Now it's time for you to go back to your own homes in the land that Moses gave you east of the Jordan River.

David said: The Lord our God has helped me defeat all the people who lived here before us, and he has given you peace from all your enemies. Now this land belongs to the Lord and his people.


The Lord said, “I will go with you and give you peace.”


We will stay with them until they have settled in their own tribal lands.


Then we captured their land and divided it among the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and East Manasseh.


The Lord will let them defeat the enemy nations on the west side of the Jordan and take their land. Afterwards, you can come back here to the land I gave you.


If Joshua had really given the people rest, there would not be any need for God to talk about another day of rest.


conquer the land that the Lord is giving them. The Lord will give peace to them as he has given peace to you, and then you can come back and settle here in the land that Moses promised you.


Moses, the Lord's servant, had led the people of Israel in defeating Sihon and Og. Then Moses gave their land to the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and East Manasseh.


Moses gave land to each of the clans in the Reuben tribe.


Moses had already given land east of the Jordan River to the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and half of Manasseh.
