The Son of man came eating and drinking; and they say, 'Behold, a man who eats voraciously and who drinks wine, a friend of tax collectors and sinners.' But wisdom is justified by her sons."


And if he will not listen to them, tell the Church. But if he will not listen to the Church, let him be to you like the pagan and the tax collector.


And if you greet only your brothers, what more have you done? Do not even the pagans behave this way?


"Pay attention, lest you perform your justice before men, in order to be seen by them; otherwise you shall not have a reward with your Father, who is in heaven.


And it happened that, as he sat at table in his house, many tax collectors and sinners sat at table together with Jesus and his disciples. For those who followed him were many.


And the scribes and the Pharisees, seeing that he ate with tax collectors and sinners, said to his disciples, "Why does your Teacher eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?"


Now tax collectors and sinners were drawing near to him, so that they might listen to him.


And the tax collector, standing at a distance, was not willing to even lift up his eyes to heaven. But he struck his chest, saying: 'O God, be merciful to me, a sinner.'


And behold, there was a man named Zacchaeus. And he was the leader of the tax collectors, and he was wealthy.


And when they all saw this, they murmured, saying that he had turned aside to a sinful man.


Now the tax collectors also came to be baptized, and they said to him, "Teacher, what should we do?"


And Levi made a great feast for him in his own house. And there was a large crowd of tax collectors and others, who were sitting at table with them.


But the Pharisees and scribes were murmuring, saying to his disciples, "Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?"


And upon hearing this, all the people and the tax collectors justified God, by being baptized with the baptism of John.


The Son of man came, eating and drinking, and you say, 'Behold, a voracious man and a drinker of wine, a friend of tax collectors and of sinners.'
