And returning, the messengers took this to him, and he sent again and said, "May the gods do these things to me, and may they add these other things, if the dust of Samaria is enough to fill the hands of all the people who follow me."


And he said: "If they have arrived for peace, apprehend them alive; if to do battle, capture them alive."


But if you say to me: 'We have faith in the Lord, our God.' Is it not he, whose high places and altars Hezekiah has taken away? And did he not instruct Judah and Jerusalem: 'You shall adore before this altar in Jerusalem?'


So how can you resist one prince from the least of my lord's servants? Do you have faith in Egypt because of the chariots and horsemen?


And when the Philistine had seen and considered David, he despised him. For he was a youth, ruddy and of handsome appearance.


And he said to David, "Come to me, and I will give your flesh to the birds of the air, and to the beasts of the earth."
