Then, after the time of two years, it happened that the sheep of Absalom were being shorn in Baal-hazor, which is near Ephraim. And Absalom invited all the sons of the king.


Then Absalom commanded his servants, saying: "Observe when Amnon will have become drunk with wine. And when I say to you, 'Strike and kill him!' do not be afraid. For it is I who commands you. Be strong and valiant men."


And he went to David in Hebron with twenty men. And David made a feast for Abner, and for his men who had arrived with him.


And they went out at midday. But Benhadad was drinking; he was inebriated in his pavilion, and the thirty-two kings with him, who had arrived in order to assist him.


Who is like the Lord, our God, who dwells on high,


It is a luxurious thing, wine, and inebriation is tumultuous. Anyone who is delighted by this will not be wise.


While laughing, they make bread and wine, so that the living may feast. And all things are obedient to money.

Because of this, it is said: "You who are sleeping: awaken, and rise up from the dead, and so shall the Christ enlighten you."


And do not choose to be inebriated by wine, for this is self-indulgence. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit,


And she said to her servants: "Go before me. Behold, I will follow after your back." But she did not reveal it to her husband, Nabal.


Then, at first light, when Nabal had digested his wine, his wife revealed to him these words, and his heart died within himself, and he became like a stone.
