Matthew 25:2

One basket had very good figs, like the figs that are first ripe; but the other basket had very bad figs, so bad that they could not be eaten.


Behold, I am sending you out like sheep in the midst of wolves; be wary and wise as serpents, and be innocent (harmless, guileless, and without falsity) as doves. [Gen. 3:1.]


Who then is the faithful, thoughtful, and wise servant, whom his master has put in charge of his household to give to the others the food and supplies at the proper time?


For when the foolish took their lamps, they did not take any [extra] oil with them;


But the wise took flasks of oil along with them [also] with their lamps.


But the wise replied, There will not be enough for us and for you; go instead to the dealers and buy for yourselves.


They went out from our number, but they did not [really] belong to us; for if they had been of us, they would have remained with us. But [they withdrew] that it might be plain that they all are not of us.


Now I want to remind you, though you were fully informed once for all, that though the Lord [at one time] delivered a people out of the land of Egypt, He subsequently destroyed those [of them] who did not believe [who refused to adhere to, trust in, and rely upon Him].
