And Jacob said unto Pharaoh, The days of the years of my pilgrimage are a hundred and thirty years: few and evil have been the days of the years of my life, and they have not attained unto the days of the years of the life of my fathers in the days of their pilgrimage.


For we are strangers before thee, and sojourners, as all our fathers were: our days on the earth are as a shadow, and there is no abiding.


Because God hath deprived her of wisdom, Neither hath he imparted to her understanding.


With my whole heart have I sought thee: Oh let me not wander from thy commandments.


Hear my prayer, O Jehovah, and give ear unto my cry; Hold not thy peace at my tears: For I am a stranger with thee, A sojourner, as all my fathers were.


Oh spare me, that I may recover strength, Before I go hence, and be no more.


O Jehovah, why dost thou make us to err from thy ways, and hardenest our heart from thy fear? Return for thy servants’ sake, the tribes of thine inheritance.


Then opened he their mind, that they might understand the scriptures;


But they understood not this saying, and it was concealed from them, that they should not perceive it; and they were afraid to ask him about this saying.


Being therefore always of good courage, and knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord


Beloved, I beseech you as sojourners and pilgrims, to abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;
