Now the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners against Jehovah exceedingly.


If thou doest well, shall it not be lifted up? and if thou doest not well, sin coucheth at the door; and unto thee shall be its desire; but do thou rule over it.


And Judah said, What shall we say unto my lord? what shall we speak? or how shall we clear ourselves? God hath found out the iniquity of thy servants: behold, we are my lord’s bondmen, both we, and he also in whose hand the cup is found.


And I am this day weak, though anointed king; and these men the sons of Zeruiah are too hard for me: Jehovah reward the evil-doer according to his wickedness.


And Jehovah will return his blood upon his own head, because he fell upon two men more righteous and better than he, and slew them with the sword, and my father David knew it not, to wit, Abner the son of Ner, captain of the host of Israel, and Amasa the son of Jether, captain of the host of Judah.


So shall their blood return upon the head of Joab, and upon the head of his seed for ever: but unto David, and unto his seed, and unto his house, and unto his throne, shall there be peace for ever from Jehovah.


If I say, Surely the darkness shall overwhelm me, And the light about me shall be night;


An evil speaker shall not be established in the earth: Evil shall hunt the violent man to overthrow him.


Thou hast set our iniquities before thee, Our secret sins in the light of thy countenance.


Evil pursueth sinners; But the righteous shall be recompensed with good.


For a righteous man falleth seven times, and riseth up again; But the wicked are overthrown by calamity.


His own iniquities shall take the wicked, And he shall be holden with the cords of his sin.


Woe unto the wicked! it shall be ill with him; for what his hands have done shall be done unto him.


For our transgressions are multiplied before thee, and our sins testify against us; for our transgressions are with us, and as for our iniquities, we know them:


And they said every one to his fellow, Come, and let us cast lots, that we may know for whose cause this evil is upon us. So they cast lots, and the lot fell upon Jonah.
