and I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed: he shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.


because thy heart was tender, and thou didst humble thyself before God, when thou heardest his words against this place, and against the inhabitants thereof, and hast humbled thyself before me, and hast rent thy clothes, and wept before me; I also have heard thee, saith Jehovah.


To hear the sighing of the prisoner; To loose those that are appointed to death;


He healeth the broken in heart, And bindeth up their wounds.


The kings of the earth set themselves, And the rulers take counsel together, Against Jehovah, and against his anointed, saying,


Yet I have set my king Upon my holy hill of Zion.


Jehovah is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart, And saveth such as are of a contrite spirit.


Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated wickedness: Therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee With the oil of gladness above thy fellows.


The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: A broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.


And the eyes of them that see shall not be dim, and the ears of them that hear shall hearken.


Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped.


to open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the dungeon, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison-house.

saying to them that are bound, Go forth; to them that are in darkness, Show yourselves. They shall feed in the ways, and on all bare heights shall be their pasture.


The Lord Jehovah hath given me the tongue of them that are taught, that I may know how to sustain with words him that is weary: he wakeneth morning by morning, he wakeneth mine ear to hear as they that are taught.


For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy: I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite.


And as for me, this is my covenant with them, saith Jehovah: my Spirit that is upon thee, and my words which I have put in thy mouth, shall not depart out of thy mouth, nor out of the mouth of thy seed, nor out of the mouth of thy seed’s seed, saith Jehovah, from henceforth and for ever.


The Spirit of the Lord Jehovah is upon me; because Jehovah hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the broken-hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;


For all these things hath my hand made, and so all these things came to be, saith Jehovah: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and that trembleth at my word.


And Jehovah said unto him, Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and set a mark upon the foreheads of the men that sigh and that cry over all the abominations that are done in the midst thereof.

But I will leave in the midst of thee an afflicted and poor people, and they shall take refuge in the name of Jehovah.


And it was broken in that day; and thus the poor of the flock that gave heed unto me knew that it was the word of Jehovah.


But unto you that fear my name shall the sun of righteousness arise with healing in its wings; and ye shall go forth, and gambol as calves of the stall.

Behold, my servant whom I have chosen; My beloved in whom my soul is well pleased: I will put my Spirit upon him, And he shall declare judgment to the Gentiles.


A bruised reed shall he not break, And smoking flax shall he not quench, Till he send forth judgment unto victory.


The people that sat in darkness Saw a great light, And to them that sat in the region and shadow of death, To them did light spring up.

He findeth first his own brother Simon, and saith unto him, We have found the Messiah (which is, being interpreted, Christ).


I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me may not abide in the darkness.


For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for he giveth not the Spirit by measure.


even Jesus of Nazareth, how God anointed him with the Holy Spirit and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.


to open their eyes, that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive remission of sins and an inheritance among them that are sanctified by faith in me.

for of a truth in this city against thy holy Servant Jesus, whom thou didst anoint, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles and the peoples of Israel, were gathered together,


who delivered us out of the power of darkness, and translated us into the kingdom of the Son of his love;


Hearken, my beloved brethren; did not God choose them that are poor as to the world to be rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he promised to them that love him?


But ye are an elect race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, that ye may show forth the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:
