As the waters fail from the sea, And the river wasteth and drieth up;


Notwithstanding my right I am accounted a liar; My wound is incurable, though I am without transgression.


My soul also is sore troubled: And thou, O Jehovah, how long?


Hast thou utterly rejected Judah? hath thy soul loathed Zion? why hast thou smitten us, and there is no healing for us? We looked for peace, but no good came; and for a time of healing, and, behold, dismay!


And their nobles send their little ones to the waters: they come to the cisterns, and find no water; they return with their vessels empty; they are put to shame and confounded, and cover their heads.


Wherefore came I forth out of the womb to see labor and sorrow, that my days should be consumed with shame?


O Jehovah, thou hast persuaded me, and I was persuaded; thou art stronger than I, and hast prevailed: I am become a laughing-stock all the day, every one mocketh me.


For thus saith Jehovah, Thy hurt is incurable, and thy wound grievous.


Why criest thou for thy hurt? thy pain is incurable: for the greatness of thine iniquity, because thy sins were increased, I have done these things unto thee.


Therefore shalt thou give a parting gift to Moresheth-gath: the houses of Achzib shall be a deceitful thing unto the kings of Israel.


For her wounds are incurable; for it is come even unto Judah; it reacheth unto the gate of my people, even to Jerusalem.
