Now the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners against Jehovah exceedingly.


And Jehovah said, Because the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grievous;


And the whole congregation of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron in the wilderness:


Thou shalt not follow a multitude to do evil; neither shalt thou speak in a cause to turn aside after a multitude to wrest justice:


For they sleep not, except they do evil; And their sleep is taken away, unless they cause some to fall.


A heart that deviseth wicked purposes, Feet that are swift in running to mischief,


the prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their means; and my people love to have it so: and what will ye do in the end thereof?


Their hands are upon that which is evil to do it diligently; the prince asketh, and the judge is ready for a reward; and the great man, he uttereth the evil desire of his soul: thus they weave it together.


Their feet are swift to shed blood;


As they were making their hearts merry, behold, the men of the city, certain base fellows, beset the house round about, beating at the door; and they spake to the master of the house, the old man, saying, Bring forth the man that came into thy house, that we may know him.
