And David said on that day, Whosoever smiteth the Jebusites, let him get up to the watercourse, and smite the lame and the blind, that are hated of David’s soul. Wherefore they say, There are the blind and the lame; he cannot come into the house.


And David dwelt in the stronghold, and called it the city of David. And David built round about from Millo and inward.


So David would not remove the ark of Jehovah unto him into the city of David; but David carried it aside into the house of Obed-edom the Gittite.


And it was told king David, saying, Jehovah hath blessed the house of Obed-edom, and all that pertaineth unto him, because of the ark of God. And David went and brought up the ark of God from the house of Obed-edom into the city of David with joy.


And it was so, as the ark of Jehovah came into the city of David, that Michal the daughter of Saul looked out at the window, and saw king David leaping and dancing before Jehovah; and she despised him in her heart.


And David slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David.


And Solomon made affinity with Pharaoh king of Egypt, and took Pharaoh’s daughter, and brought her into the city of David, until he had made an end of building his own house, and the house of Jehovah, and the wall of Jerusalem round about.


Then Solomon assembled the elders of Israel, and all the heads of the tribes, the princes of the fathers’ houses of the children of Israel, unto king Solomon in Jerusalem, to bring up the ark of the covenant of Jehovah out of the city of David, which is Zion.


But Pharaoh’s daughter came up out of the city of David unto her house which Solomon had built for her: then did he build Millo.


And David dwelt in the stronghold; therefore they called it the city of David.


And they buried him in the city of David among the kings, because he had done good in Israel, and toward God and his house.


Then Solomon assembled the elders of Israel, and all the heads of the tribes, the princes of the fathers’ houses of the children of Israel, unto Jerusalem, to bring up the ark of the covenant of Jehovah out of the city of David, which is Zion.


And the fountain gate repaired Shallun the son of Col-hozeh, the ruler of the district of Mizpah; he built it, and covered it, and set up the doors thereof, the bolts thereof, and the bars thereof, and the wall of the pool of Shelah by the king’s garden, even unto the stairs that go down from the city of David.


For Jehovah hath chosen Zion; He hath desired it for his habitation.


Yet I have set my king Upon my holy hill of Zion.


Walk about Zion, and go round about her; Number the towers thereof;


God hath made himself known in her palaces for a refuge.


Do good in thy good pleasure unto Zion: Build thou the walls of Jerusalem.


Jehovah loveth the gates of Zion More than all the dwellings of Jacob.


Sing praises to Jehovah, who dwelleth in Zion: Declare among the people his doings.


Cry aloud and shout, thou inhabitant of Zion; for great in the midst of thee is the Holy One of Israel.


And a Redeemer will come to Zion, and unto them that turn from transgression in Jacob, saith Jehovah.


Behold, I am against thee, O inhabitant of the valley, and of the rock of the plain, saith Jehovah; you that say, Who shall come down against us? or who shall enter into our habitations?


And many nations shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of Jehovah, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths. For out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of Jehovah from Jerusalem;


even as it is written, Behold, I lay in Zion a stone of stumbling and a rock of offence: And he that believeth on him shall not be put to shame.


but ye are come unto mount Zion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to innumerable hosts of angels,


And I saw, and behold, the Lamb standing on the mount Zion, and with him a hundred and forty and four thousand, having his name, and the name of his Father, written on their foreheads.
