Attend unto me, and answer me: I am restless in my complaint, and moan,


Certain base fellows are gone out from the midst of thee, and have drawn away the inhabitants of their city, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which ye have not known;


then shalt thou inquire, and make search, and ask diligently; and, behold, if it be truth, and the thing certain, that such abomination is wrought in the midst of thee,


And Hannah answered and said, No, my lord, I am a woman of a sorrowful spirit: I have drunk neither wine nor strong drink, but I poured out my soul before Jehovah.


Then Eli answered and said, Go in peace; and the God of Israel grant thy petition that thou hast asked of him.


But certain worthless fellows said, How shall this man save us? And they despised him, and brought him no present. But he held his peace.


Now the sons of Eli were base men; they knew not Jehovah.


Let not my lord, I pray thee, regard this worthless fellow, even Nabal; for as his name is, so is he; Nabal is his name, and folly is with him: but I thy handmaid saw not the young men of my lord, whom thou didst send.
