If thou seest the oppression of the poor, and the violent taking away of justice and righteousness in a province, marvel not at the matter: for one higher than the high regardeth; and there are higher than they.


For Jehovah will rise up as in mount Perazim, he will be wroth as in the valley of Gibeon; that he may do his work, his strange work, and bring to pass his act, his strange act.


And some of them that are wise shall fall, to refine them, and to purify, and to make them white, even to the time of the end; because it is yet for the time appointed.


There hath no temptation taken you but such as man can bear: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation make also the way of escape, that ye may be able to endure it.


each man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it is revealed in fire; and the fire itself shall prove each man’s work of what sort it is.


Yea, and all that would live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.


Beloved, I beseech you as sojourners and pilgrims, to abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;


wherein they think it strange that ye run not with them into the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you:


whom withstand stedfast in your faith, knowing that the same sufferings are accomplished in your brethren who are in the world.
