³ H8083And it came to pass in the eighteenthH6240 H8141yearH4428of kingH2977JosiahH4428, that the kingH7971sent[H8804] H8227ShaphanH1121the sonH683of AzaliahH1121, the sonH4918of MeshullamH5608, the scribe[H8802] H1004, to the houseH3068of the LORDH559, saying[H8800] ,

⁴ H5927Go up[H8798] H2518to HilkiahH1419the highH3548priestH8552, that he may sum[H8686] H3701the silverH935which is brought[H8716] H1004into the houseH3068of the LORDH8104, which the keepers[H8802] H5592of the doorH622have gathered[H8804] H5971of the people:

⁵ H5414And let them deliver[H8799] H3027it into the handH6213of the doers[H8802] H4399of the workH6485, that have the oversight[H8716] H1004of the houseH3068of the LORDH5414: and let them give[H8799] H6213it to the doers[H8802] H4399of the workH1004which is in the houseH3068of the LORDH2388, to repair[H8763] H919the breachesH1004of the house,

⁶ H2796Unto carpentersH1129, and builders[H8802] H1443, and masons[H8802] H7069, and to buy[H8800] H6086timberH4274and hewnH68stoneH2388to repair[H8763] H1004the house.

⁷ H2803Howbeit there was no reckoning made[H8735] H3701with them of the moneyH5414that was delivered[H8737] H3027into their handH6213, because they dealt[H8802] H530faithfully.

⁸ H2518And HilkiahH1419the highH3548priestH559said[H8799] H8227unto ShaphanH5608the scribe[H8802] H4672, I have found[H8804] H5612the bookH8451of the lawH1004in the houseH3068of the LORDH2518. And HilkiahH5414gave[H8799] H5612the bookH8227to ShaphanH7121, and he read[H8799]  it.

⁹ H8227And ShaphanH5608the scribe[H8802] H935came[H8799] H4428to the kingH7725, and broughtH4428the kingH1697wordH7725again[H8686] H559, and said[H8799] H5650, Thy servantsH5413have gathered[H8689] H3701the moneyH4672that was found[H8737] H1004in the houseH5414, and have delivered[H8799] H3027it into the handH6213of them that do[H8802] H4399the workH6485, that have the oversight[H8716] H1004of the houseH3068of the LORD.

¹⁰ H8227And ShaphanH5608the scribe[H8802] H5046shewed[H8686] H4428the kingH559, saying[H8800] H2518, HilkiahH3548the priestH5414hath delivered[H8804] H5612me a bookH8227. And ShaphanH7121read[H8799] H6440it beforeH4428the king.

¹¹ H4428And it came to pass, when the kingH8085had heard[H8800] H1697the wordsH5612of the bookH8451of the lawH7167, that he rent[H8799] H899his clothes.

¹² H4428And the kingH6680commanded[H8762] H2518HilkiahH3548the priestH296, and AhikamH1121the sonH8227of ShaphanH5907, and AchborH1121the sonH4320of MichaiahH8227, and ShaphanH5608the scribe[H8802] H6222, and AsahiahH5650a servantH4428of the king'sH559, saying[H8800] ,

¹³ H3212Go[H8798] H1875ye, enquire[H8798] H3068of the LORDH5971for me, and for the peopleH3063, and for all JudahH1697, concerning the wordsH5612of this bookH4672that is found[H8737] H1419: for greatH2534is the wrathH3068of the LORDH3341that is kindled[H8738] H1against us, because our fathersH8085have not hearkened[H8804] H1697unto the wordsH5612of this bookH6213, to do[H8800] H3789according unto all that which is written[H8803]  concerning us.

¹⁴ H2518So HilkiahH3548the priestH296, and AhikamH5907, and AchborH8227, and ShaphanH6222, and AsahiahH3212, went[H8799] H2468unto HuldahH5031the prophetessH802, the wifeH7967of ShallumH1121the sonH8616of TikvahH1121, the sonH2745of HarhasH8104, keeper[H8802] H899of the wardrobeH3427; (now she dwelt[H8802] H3389in JerusalemH4932in the collegeH1696;) and they communed[H8762]  with her.

¹⁵ H559And she said[H8799] H559unto them, Thus saith[H8804] H3068the LORDH430GodH3478of IsraelH559, Tell[H8798] H376the manH7971that sent[H8804]  you to me,

¹⁶ H559Thus saith[H8804] H3068the LORDH935, Behold, I will bring[H8688] H7451evilH4725upon this placeH3427, and upon the inhabitants[H8802] H1697thereof, even all the wordsH5612of the bookH4428which the kingH3063of JudahH7121hath read[H8804] :

¹⁷ H5800Because they have forsaken[H8804] H6999me, and have burned incense[H8762] H312unto otherH430godsH3707, that they might provoke me to anger[H8687] H4639with all the worksH3027of their handsH2534; therefore my wrathH3341shall be kindled[H8738] H4725against this placeH3518, and shall not be quenched[H8799] .

¹⁸ H4428But to the kingH3063of JudahH7971which sent[H8802] H1875you to enquire[H8800] H3068of the LORDH559, thus shall ye say[H8799] H559to him, Thus saith[H8804] H3068the LORDH430GodH3478of IsraelH1697, As touching the wordsH8085which thou hast heard[H8804] ;

¹⁹ H3824Because thine heartH7401was tender[H8804] H3665, and thou hast humbled[H8735] H6440thyself beforeH3068the LORDH8085, when thou heardest[H8800] H1696what I spake[H8765] H4725against this placeH3427, and against the inhabitants[H8802] H8047thereof, that they should become a desolationH7045and a curseH7167, and hast rent[H8799] H899thy clothesH1058, and wept[H8799] H6440beforeH8085me; I also have heard[H8804] H5002thee, saith[H8803] H3068the LORD.

²⁰ H622Behold therefore, I will gather[H8802] H1thee unto thy fathersH622, and thou shalt be gathered[H8738] H6913into thy graveH7965in peaceH5869; and thine eyesH7200shall not see[H8799] H7451all the evilH935which I will bring[H8688] H4725upon this placeH7725. And they broughtH4428the kingH1697wordH7725again[H8686] .
