² H1732And DavidH559said[H8799] H288unto AhimelechH3548the priestH4428, The kingH6680hath commanded[H8765] H1697me a businessH559, and hath said[H8799] H376unto me, Let no manH3045know[H8799] H3972any thingH1697of the businessH7971whereabout I send[H8802] H6680thee, and what I have commanded[H8765] H3045thee: and I have appointed[H8776] H5288my servantsH6423to suchH492and suchH4725a place.

³ H3426Now therefore what isH3027under thine handH5414? give[H8798] H2568me fiveH3899loaves of breadH3027in mine handH4672, or what there is present[H8737] .

⁴ H3548And the priestH6030answered[H8799] H1732DavidH559, and said[H8799] H2455, There is no commonH3899breadH3027under mine handH3426, but there isH6944hallowedH3899breadH5288; if the young menH8104have kept[H8738] H389themselves at leastH802from women.

⁵ H1732And DavidH6030answered[H8799] H3548the priestH559, and said[H8799] H518unto him, Of a truthH802womenH6113have been kept[H8803] H8032from us about these threeH8543daysH3318, since I came out[H8800] H3627, and the vesselsH5288of the young menH6944are holyH1870, and the bread is in a mannerH2455commonH6942, yea, though it were sanctified[H8799] H3117this dayH3627in the vessel.

⁶ H3548So the priestH5414gave[H8799] H6944him hallowedH3899bread : for there was no breadH3899there but the shewbreadH6440 H5493, that was taken[H8716] H6440from beforeH3068the LORDH7760, to put[H8800] H2527hotH3899breadH3117in the dayH3947when it was taken away[H8736] .

⁷ H376Now a certain manH5650of the servantsH7586of SaulH3117was there that dayH6113, detained[H8737] H6440beforeH3068the LORDH8034; and his nameH1673was DoegH130, an EdomiteH47, the chiefestH7462of the herdmen[H8802] H7586that belonged to Saul.

And DavidH559said[H8799] H5414, There is none like that; give[H8798]  it me.

¹⁰ H1732And DavidH6965arose[H8799] H1272, and fled[H8799] H3117that dayH6440for fearH7586of SaulH935, and went[H8799] H397to AchishH4428the kingH1661of Gath.
