Abraham said to his servant, the elder of his house, who ruled over all that he had, “Please put your hand under my thigh.


Joseph found favor in his sight. He ministered to him, and Potiphar made him overseer over his house, and all that he had he put into his hand.


“When evening came, the owner of the vineyard said to his manager, ‘Call the workers and pay them their wages, starting with the last ones hired to the first.’


“Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom the master has set over the household, to give them their food in due season?


Ruth said, “Don’t urge me to leave you or turn back from you. For where you go, I will go, and where you stay, I will stay. Your people will be my people, and your God my God.


So they both went on until they came to Bethlehem. When they had come to Bethlehem, all the city was excited about them, and the women said, “Is this Naomi?”


So Naomi returned accompanied by Ruth the Moabite, her daughter-in-law, who returned with her from the country of Moab. They came to Bethlehem in the beginning of barley harvest.


Then Boaz asked his servant who oversaw the harvesters, “Who does this young woman belong to?”


She said, ‘Please let me glean and gather among the sheaves behind the harvesters.’ So she came and has continued from the morning until now, except for a short rest in the hut.”
