She conceived again, and bore a son. She said, “Now this time my husband will be joined to me, because I have borne him three sons.” Therefore his name was called Levi.


They stood in their place after their order, according to the law of Moses the man of God. The priests sprinkled the blood which they received of the hand of the Levites.


Yet they may be ministers in my sanctuary, having oversight at the gates of the house, and ministering in the house. They may slaughter the burnt offering and the sacrifice for the people and stand before them to minister to them.


“‘“But the Levitical priests, the sons of Zadok, who performed the duty of my sanctuary when the children of Israel went astray from me, are to come near to me to minister before me. They are to stand before me to offer me the fat and the blood,” says Lord YHWH.


Y’all will know that I have sent this commandment to y’all, so that my covenant with Levi may continue,” says YHWH Almighty.


But the Levites are to camp around the Tabernacle of the Testimony, so that there may be no wrath on the congregation of the children of Israel. The Levites are responsible for the Tabernacle of the Testimony.”


to be a memorial to the children of Israel, to the end that no stranger who isn’t of the offspring of Aaron, would come near to burn incense before YHWH, that he not be as Korah and as his company; as YHWH spoke to him by Moses.


Moses placed the staffs before YHWH in the Tent of the Testimony.


They are to be joined with you and be responsible of the Tent of Meeting, for all the service of the Tent. A stranger may not come near to y’all.


“When Aaron and his sons have finished covering the sanctuary and all the furniture of the sanctuary, and when the camp moves forward, then the sons of Kohath are to come to carry it. But they must not touch the sanctuary or they till they die. The sons of Kohath are to carry these things belonging to the Tent of Meeting.


I have given the Levites as a gift to Aaron and to his sons from among the children of Israel, to do the service of the children of Israel in the Tent of Meeting, and to make atonement for the children of Israel, so that there will be no plague among the children of Israel when the children of Israel come near to the sanctuary.”


After that, the Levites went in to do their service in the Tent of Meeting before Aaron and before his sons: as YHWH had commanded Moses concerning the Levites, so they did to them.


Now when everything had been prepared in this manner, the priests would go into the first tabernacle regularly to enact worship.
