Moses spoke to the children of Israel. All their leaders gave him staffs, one for each leader, according to their fathers’ houses, a total of twelve staffs. Aaron’s rod was among their staffs.

All the children of Israel grumbled against Moses and against Aaron. The whole congregation said to them, “We wish that we had died in the land of Egypt, or that we had died in this wilderness!


Only y’all must not rebel against YHWH, and y’all should not fear the people of the land, for they are bread for us. Their protection has been removed from over them, and YHWH is with us. Y’all must not fear them.”


The staff of the man whom I choose will sprout. I will make the grumblings of the children of Israel against y’all cease.”


Moses placed the staffs before YHWH in the Tent of the Testimony.
