Then King Solomon swore by YHWH, saying, “May God do to me and even more also, if Adonijah has not spoken this word against his own life.


but these lay in wait for their own blood. They lurk secretly for their own lives.


The terror of a king is like the roaring of a lion. He who provokes him to anger forfeits his own life.


But he who sins against me wrongs his own soul. All those who hate me love death.”


“Therefore now YHWH, the God of Armies, the God of Israel, says: ‘Why do y’all commit great disaster against your* own souls? Y’all are cutting of every man and woman, infant and nursing baby from Judah to leave yourselves* without a remnant.


I will set my face against that person and will make them a example and a proverb. I will cut them off from among my people. Then y’all will know that I am YHWH.


You have devised shame to your house by cutting off many peoples, and have sinned against your soul.


“You are to tell Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest to take up the censers out of the burning and scatter the fire away from the camp, for they are holy.


Eleazar the priest took the bronze censers which those who were burned had offered; and they beat them out for a covering of the altar,


to be a memorial to the children of Israel, to the end that no stranger who isn’t of the offspring of Aaron, would come near to burn incense before YHWH, that he not be as Korah and as his company; as YHWH spoke to him by Moses.


YHWH said to Moses, “Put back the rod of Aaron before the covenant, to be kept for a token against the children of rebellion; that you may make an end of their complaining against me, that they not die.”


and the earth opened its mouth, and swallowed them up together with Korah when that company died; at the time the fire devoured two hundred fifty men, and they became a sign.


Now all these things happened to them as examples, and they were written for our warning, on whom the outcomes of the ages have come.
