They also gave me poison for my food. In my thirst, they gave me vinegar to drink.


They gave him sour wine to drink mixed with gall, but after tasting it, he would not drink it.


When some of the bystanders heard this, they said, “This man is calling for Elijah.”


But the rest of them said, “Let him be. Let’s see whether Elijah comes to save him.”


Someone ran and filled a sponge with vinegar, put it on a reed, and gave it to him to drink, saying, “Y’all leave him be. Let’s see whether Elijah comes to take him down.”
