You, Ezra, according to the wisdom of your God that is in your hand, appoint magistrates and judges who may judge all the people who are beyond the River, who all know the laws of your God. Y’all much teach those who don’t know them.


this Ezra went up from Babylon. He was a skilled scribe in the law of Moses, which YHWH, the God of Israel, had given; and the king granted him all his request, according to YHWH his God’s hand on him.


For the lips of the priest should preserve knowledge, and people should seek the instruction from his mouth, for he is the messenger of YHWH Almighty.


Therefore y’all must carefully do everything they tell you. But y’all must not do what they do, for they do not do what they say.


In his teaching, he said, “Y’all beware of the scribes, who like to walk in long robes, and to get greetings in the marketplaces,


“Y’all must beware of the scribes who like to walk in flowing robes, and who love greetings in the marketplaces, the best seats in the synagogues, and the places of honor at banquets.
